Our brother Zared, who is 23 years old was working on a roof on Wednesday. We don't know how, but he fell through and landed 15-20 feet below on his head. They life-flighted him to Herman Memorial in Houston where he remains in the ICU in critical condition. He has 3 fractures in his skull, several contusions on his brain. He has been unconscious and non-responsive since the accident happened. There is major swelling, fluid and blood in his brain and because of that, they had to put a catheter on his brain to drain some of the fluid. The pressure of his brain stays in the early 20's. The Dr explained that a normal person's pressure would be like a 25 if you were to take a sneeze or get a little stressed out, but because of his accident they want his a lot lower. I was sitting with him in the middle of the night on Wed. night and it got up to 45. Because of that they started to put him in the deepest coma possible with the hope that because of no brain activity, his pressure will stay down allowing the swelling and fluids to drain off. They are not telling us whether he will live or not. They said the next 3 days +, he will be fighting for his life, after which if he makes it then they can go assess the brain damage and go from there. They would only tell us that because of the magnitude of this injury, 1 out of 3 will die from this. Of those 2 left, one of them will have permanent brain damage. It will take several days for him to get out of the coma once they start taking him out of it and b/c it was medically induced, he can be taken off at any time. I am asking God for a miracle b/c I know He is the only one that provides them. His vital signs are all excellent. He is young and strong. God is on his side. I am asking everyone to please, please pray for him. Ask your churches to pray for him, prayer chains. Anything. He just got married 4 weeks ago. Pray for his wife. He was a pilot for Continental Express till he got laid off the end of last year. His wife also worked at a bank, which she got laid off as well. He has the world in front of him and we want him to be able to have it all. He is one of the best brother's anyone could ask for. He would give a stranger the shirt off his back. It is so hard to see him helpless, laying on the bed. Please pray and we will update as I know more.
